So today, 14.12.2025, the “biggest timetable change in Zürich” happened—and with it, our cut-off from the city centre… well, at least by tram. The tram lines we rely on—the 4, 13, and 17—can no longer cross Bahnhofquai, as the station is being refurbished and made more accessible. For the next year, we either walk to the other side of HB or flee to the north. That’s what we tried today: we went to see where the trams would still take us.

First stop: Überlandpark, the new park on top of the motorway housing in Schwamendingen.
Well, it wasn’t the nicest day, and the park wasn’t either. I mean, for the money we spent on it, I expected more than just another “Zürich-like” clean, grey, and soulless place. But see for yourself:

in other news, the tram tunnel looks as good as always underneath the (now) Motorway tunnel!

Fun fact: Did you know that the triangular-shaped lights are inspired by the old Tram 2000 interior lights? the iconic lighting design was created by Reto Marty from Nachtaktiv.
