Light meets Art

I have to admit I was so excited about today that I even woke up earlier than I had to! Today I got to go to Art|Basel — the very first time for me! Until now, I was always a bit scared to just show up there… but you know, this time I had a reason.

ERCO earns a big thanks (hugs and kisses too!) — they had the opportunity to deliver a brand-new lighting system for all the Art|Basel shows worldwide! And for the first time, it was put up in Basel—the OG show.

So ERCO used this opportunity and summoned the who’s who of the lighting design industry to a brunch with a panel discussion about lighting design in art. As always, it’s so inspiring when you get to hear masters like Stephanie Grosse-Brockhoff or Claude Hidber talk about their workings.

And of course, after the brunch, we hit the road — or more like the halls — and went to see the biggest gallery show in real life! I have to say: lighting-wise, nothing to add. Very well done, Christian Joller, head lighting designer, and the team of Art|Basel and ERCO, of course, for the execution!

Well — and art-wise — there would be many discussions. But that’s also art: if it does something to you, then it works, even if you’re gonna bitch about it…
