This weekend, we had a friend, Jay from America, visiting. So after seeing a bit of Zurich, we thought we’d show him a bit more of Switzerland. As it was Easter weekend, it was a tricky one—where should one go without spending most of the time stuck in traffic?
Romandie, we thought, is always worth a visit: mountains, beautiful towns, and a lot of history.
At first, we planned to go via Montreux to Lausanne, but on the way down, we noticed we were so close to Gruyères. We decided to go up there too, not only to show Jay the beautiful medieval town but also the world-famous art by H.R. Giger—you know, the one with the Alien.

Later, we went to see Freddie Mercury—or at least his life-sized bronze statue—on the lakefront in Montreux.

Well, after a few Aperol Spritzes and Negronis later, it was kind of too late to drive down to Lausanne. So we decided to hop at least one down the lake to Vevey, as Tony knew there was good food—it was almost dinner time after all.
Oh boy, and it was worth it! What a charming town Vevey is (you might know it for Nestlé), but that wasn’t the highlight. The highlight was definitely the summer vibe, the fork in the lake, and then we even got a real fork for some really good food while watching the sunset!

Once again, I thought—what a beautiful country we live in!
