I’m Fritz Eugen Tschümperlin, born and raised at the foot of the Mythen in Kanton Schwyz. I got into technology early, taking my toys apart to see how they worked—and, obviously, learning how to put them back together over time.
Being crafty and trying out new things has always been part of me, from helping in my grandma’s kitchen (yes, I even thought about becoming a chef) to building things with my Meccano set. And, of course, nature, there the other grandmother taught me a lot about. Last but not least, I used to watch a lot of films: big Hollywood productions, niche arthouse, and a lot of documentaries.
As I grew older, all those interests seemed worlds apart, and finding a job that combined them all wasn’t on the cards. So, I trained as an electrician and got into theatre lighting—not a bad decision, as it turned out. I’ve since found a way to do many of the things I’ve always loved. Now, I work as a lighting designer and run my own studio, combining design, space, and atmosphere with technology.
Theatre and film taught me about space and atmosphere, while my electrician training showed me how to set things up properly.
And what’s this page about? Well, it’s about everything else: my photography, design, the crafty things I make, the books I read, and so on. It’s 2025, and all the big tech apps are just awful, so I carved out my own space on the internet.

Ich bin Fritz Eugen Tschümperlin, geboren und aufgewachsen am Fuss der Mythen im Kanton Schwyz, entdeckte früh meine Leidenschaft für Technik. Ich nahm meine Spielsachen auseinander, um zu verstehen, wie sie funktionieren, und lernte mit der Zeit, sie auch wieder zusammenzubauen.
Handwerkliches Geschick und das Ausprobieren neuer Dinge waren schon immer ein Teil von mir: vom Helfen in der Küche meiner Grossmutter (ja, ich dachte tatsächlich daran, Koch zu werden) bis hin zum Bauen mit meinem Meccano-Set. Und natürlich die Natur – meine andere Grossmutter – lehrte mich viel über die Welt da draussen. Nicht zu vergessen: Ich sah unzählige Filme, von grossen Hollywoodproduktionen bis zu Nischen-Arthouse und vor allem viele, viele Dokumentarfilme.
Mit der Zeit schienen all diese Interessen weit voneinander entfernt. Einen Beruf zu lernen, der alles vereint, erschien weit weg. Also entschied ich mich für eine Ausbildung zum Elektriker. Zudem machte ich ein paar Theaterbeleuchtung. Keine schlechte Wahl, wie sich zeigt. Ich fand einen Weg, all das, was mich schon immer faszinierte, in meinem Leben unterzubringen. Heute arbeite ich als Lichtdesigner und führe mein eigenes Studio, in dem ich Design, Raum, Ästhetik und Technik verbinde.
Das Theater und der Film zeigten mir, wie Räume wirken, das Elektrikerhandwerk, wie man sie technisch umsetzt.
Und worum geht es auf dieser Seite? Um alles andere: meine Fotografie, die handwerklichen Dinge, Design, die ich bastle, die Bücher, die ich lese, und so weiter … Und da wir im Jahr 2025 leben, in dem die grossen Tech-Apps einfach nur noch schrecklich sind, habe ich mir meinen eigenen Flecken im Internet geschaffen.
